So we haven't had much going on the last couple of weeks. Brandon is still commuting 1.5 hours each way to work but we are still appreciating the check that we get for him making that drive. I am STILL waiting tables... trying to figure out what I am going to do with my life. I am thinking nursing school OR law school. I have always wanted to go to Law school but it just hasn't seemed practical since we have always been thinking about kids BUT NOW we aren't thinking about kids for a LONG LONG time (thank you Bishop for calling me into Primary and opening my eyes) and so Law school is seeming more and more practical everyday... but then so does nursing.. so you can tell I am in quite a weird spot.
Anyway.... we have been house hunting which is fun but very tiring and we are thinking of buying a house up here in Wrightwood since that is where we have figured out is the BEST and COOLEST (as in temp) to live in all of SoCal. I was driving home from Rancho Cucamonga and it was 110 degrees there. By the time I got home my car temp dropped to 84!! WONDERFUL COOL AIR! So we decided that we like it here. We put an offer in on a house, ITS A SHORT SALE, now most people think.. oh short sale that means it's only going to take a couple of weeks right... WRONG short sales are generally the longest to go through so we have at least a month before we even find out if our offer is accepted, then it takes about another oh, two or three months, for the sellers to prove their that they can't pay their mortgage and that the bank should let them do a short sale and THEN we MIGHT be accepted by the bank to get the house as long as we still, at that point, qualify for loan to buy the house. So as you can see it is a bit more complex than just buying a regular house from jo-shmo down the street. So we are expecting it to take around 8 months total but we REALLY like this house... so we are going to try and wait it out...unless of course we find something better then we will drop that house like a bad habit.
So there is pretty much our boring lives for the last couple of weeks. Sorry there isn't much more exciting news! Have a great one!
Thought you all might think this is funny!!! ENJOY
Hey Megan! I totally know what you mean about short sales. When we were looking at homes they were all forclosures or short sales and our realtor and loan guy told us that we could do a short sale, but they take a long time and with Jonas on the way we didn't want it to take that long, so we went for a forclosure instead, even though we found a short sale that we loved and liked it a little more than the place we got. Good luck with everything and let us know what happens...when it does.

Good luck on the short sale. We're in the middle of one ourselves. We put an offer in the last week of June, and we're set to close September 25th. But we'll see. Three months wouldn't be too bad I guess. I'm sure something will come up.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the school decision. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to go to law school, but it's just not going to happen for a very long time. I'll probably end up being one of those 50 year olds in class with all the "youngsters".
That's so exciting that you guys are looking for a house. I really think you should move down by us. :) We just bought a house in Murrieta. It's not as hot as Rancho Cucamonga. We're only a 1/2 hour from Oceanside and the pollution isn't bad at all. I'm just trying to get you guys down here. :)
ReplyDeleteLove Brian Reagan! :) Gosh, I didn't even know you guys had a blog- this is great! Good detective skills in finding ours too, by the way! Hahaha! Best of luck with the house (and I'm totally jealous you guys are actually in a place permanently- outside of REXBURG- and buying a HOUSE so that you can have a YARD for your PUPPY to play in... can I be you guys when I grow up? lol) But seriously, good luck!!
ReplyDeleteHey I just wanted to say I love you! It was such a blast to get to hang out and chat with you when we were down in Cali! What a great family we have! How exciting to make an offer on a house. We are sooooooo far from that, but right now we are just content throwing our money away each month (haha) Hope things are going well!
