So I (brandon) had the awesome opportunity to be a part of the choir that sang in the priesthood session of general conference this go round. It was so cool. It was a combined choir comprised of current and past members of choirs on BYU-I campus and there were also some school employees. Some of the choir drove themselves down, but the rest of us rode on two busses. it was a good time. I listened to the music that we were going to be singing as we rode down. We got to the conference center and rehearsed in a little theater that is just inside the doors # 1-3. I didnt even know it existed. Then as we walked to take our seats in the auditorium, the led us through a series of stairwells and tunnels and all kinds of back stage areas. When we entered to auditorium I was amazed at how big it was. I have sat in the congregation/audience, but sitting up in the choir seats made everything seem even bigger. and when the organ plays...holy cow its loud, awesome but loud. When our session of conference was over, the organist, Richard Elliot, played a few hymns as everyone left. His version of the hymns was incredible!!! it was the best performance of "let us all press on" and "put your shoulder to the wheel" that i have ever heard or probably ever will hear. Then on the way home i watched movies on the ipod...what a good invention those were. The only bummer was that it took all day, we left for Utah at 10 and didnt get back till 1 in the morning. So megan was home alone and bored all day. well maybe not so bored, she had a different color hair when i got home, and she had packed up some more of our things. I dont have any pictures of the experience because they didnt allow us to take cameras in, but oh well. OH! the flowers behind the speakers are FAKE!!! I touched 'em.
So from now on, I am taking finals till wednesday, megan is done with work, and were packing up to leave on wednesday. WOOHOO!!! i hope the weather stays good for us as we pack the uhaul and drive down.
That's awesome! I'll have to watch it on the internet (if they post it like the other sessions) and watch for you. When you get settled, I'd like your address so I can send you your 2008 Christmas Card from us. Thanks! kristi_ann_bolles@hotmail.com. Later!
ReplyDeletehey, I saw you four times and pointed you out. When do you plan on getting to Ontario? Call me and let me know and I will work on arrangements.
ReplyDeleteWith the flowers, at least we know they are being frugal with tithing money, fake once is lots cheaper than real every time.
Jake was so stoked to see you at the broadcast!!! Good luck with finals, have fun moving! Let us know how it goes!
