Fun in the Sun!

We are having SO MUCH FUN here in Southern California! Brandon started his first day of work yesterday and he got his phone, some shirts, some polos, a water bottle, a coffee mug (or hot chocolate in his case) and just some other cute little things. This is such a great company and we are SO BLESSED to have a job right now! We were talking the other day about how we should post on the blog about how this job fell into place and then our house and the moving and all of that good stuff so that everyone else could witness the Lord's hand truly being in our life. So here it goes...

Last fall (October-ish) we went to a couple of meetings on campus for companies that come and recruit. This one time I happened to be able to go with Brandon so we went to the first one and it seemed to be a not so good company and we got kind of discouraged and so we were going to go home but we got the feeling that we needed to go to this next companies meeting. So we go and the company seems wayyyyy to good to be true. After the meeting we went up and introduced ourselves and they really took a liking to Brandon. We were talking to some of our friends and one of the BIG GUYS for CW Driver came up and said "Hey I want you to come by and talk to me tomorrow at the career fair." Well Brandon wasn't going to be able to go to the career fair because he had classes straight through the day and so he told Greg (the BIG GUY from Driver) that he wouldn't be able to make it. So Greg says "Well why don't I take you and your wife out for lunch" ( I WAS SO EXCITED) We left that meeting feeling so good and on the way home we talked about how we knew that this was the company that Brandon was supposed to work for... we both felt the feeling so strongly! Well at that lunch he tells us that he definitely wants Brandon to work for them and that he wants to fly us down in December to meet with some of the other guys in the company and to get a feeling for southern california. It couldn't have been better because when we got to Ontario (where brandon's office is) it was so nice and warm which was quite a change for us since we were coming from Idaho! I loved every minute of the hot sun... needless to say I was so ready to move down there! Well we get back home and life went back to normal and I got to thinking about California and how expensive it was and how they were dealing with the Prop 8 and just all that horrible stuff (It was Satan trying to persuade me to not go) and so I decided that I didn't want to live in Southern California because it just seemed to fast paced, expensive and corrupt and thats exactly what I told Brandon. He didn't agree and so we were kind of at a weird spot. So I started talking to my sister in law Brittany about living in Southern California and she told me about Wrightwood, which is where she grew up and how it was up in the mountains and you don't deal with the hustle and bustle, 15% of the town is LDS and how everyone was so nice and that it was one of the safest places to live. It just so happens that Brittany's parents - The McEwen's were wanting to move to Utah but they couldn't sell their house in Wrightwood because the market had just fallen so much and nothing was selling. They didn't want to rent so they seemed to be stuck in a hard spot. Debbie (Brittanys Mom) told me later that she would pray everyday for something to happen so that they could move to Utah to be closer with their family. So we told the McEwens that if they did consider renting out their home that we would be happy to rent from them because I told Brandon that the only way I was moving down here was if we lived in Wrightwood. It all just fell into place for us after that. The McEwens felt really good about renting their house to us (they said the wouldn't have rented it to anyone else) and I finally felt at peace with moving down here. When we got here we knew that this was the place that we are supposed to raise our children. The first Sunday everyone in the ward was so nice and would come up and hug us and tell us how much they looked forward to us arriving. I have honestly never been in a nicer ward. Last night Brandon and I were taking Lola for a walk and we just talked about the feelings that we have about this place and how Heavenly Father has truly blessed us to have such a beautiful house in a beautiful place and have such a wonderful job. Although I am still working on being employed I don't have any fears about making it work because I know that we can trust in the Lord and the he will provide and take care of us. We are supposed to be here and he has whispered that to us so many times that it has just made us feel so secure. We know that if we follow that Lord we shall not fear.
We have also been having a lot of fun with my sister and her family who live about an hour away. We have more pictures to follow and Brandon will be posting about his AWESOME experience at an Indie race... just to give you an idea of how cool it was... HE GOT TO EAT LUNCH WITH PATRICK DEMPSY!!!! so watch for pictures and more post from SUNNY SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA!
