FUN COMES IN all shapes and sizes

I have learned that fun comes in all shapes and sizes. For Brandon fun is installing a new door for my sister and her family, that takes all day, two trips to Home Depot and Costco, and some new tools that he thought were "totally awesome!" I think it was a table saw and a miter saw... I don't know the difference but Brandon thought it was pretty cool that he got to go with Greg (my brother in law) to go buy them. For me fun comes from going shopping and getting a hair cut with my niece Sarah. She is 14 and I talked her into cutting her hair because she hasn't cut it in seriously like 10 years. It is SO LONG and because she doesn't feel a need to brush or blow dry it it looks pretty ummmm raggedy I guess is the best way to describe it. So I talked her into going to get our hair cut (cause I can always use a new do). She seriously paid 40 dollars to cut an inch off and thats it.... I could have done that at home with some kitchen scissors. ANYWAY after we got our hair cut we went to the mall and went shopping ALL DAY! It was so much fun because I got her dresses (which she only owned one previously and only wore that to church with Brandon and I.. the one time she went) so while we are shopping I text my sister Chris and ask her what she wanted me to get Sarah. Chris replied and said "get her what she needs." OKAY.... I am the aunt... I DON'T KNOW WHAT SHE NEEDS! But that makes me the cool aunt because when we walked into the door at home... 400 dollars later my niece sarah was glowing because she got all this new stuff. When my sister asked "how much do I owe you?"... she wasn't as "glowy" and told me I could never take Sarah shopping again without a set list of items to get... OH THE FUN OF BEING THE AUNT AND NOT THE PARENT!

  1. Well I tell you what... if you were the aunt of my daughter and came home with that bill I'd be like, "oh, wasn't that a gift?"

But seriously that miter saw, that'll come in handy! You could do all kinds of molding projects with that. You have to see my sister's blog. She's crafty and HYSTERICAL! If you scroll through her home improvement posts you'll see what she busts out with her saw. www.olderandwisor.blogspot.com

  2. Did you keep the receipts? You can always return things she doesn't NEED. Of course, I'm a queen of returns.
